Canadian Women’s Shelter Features Bean Bag Chairs

Posted by Administrator on 10/14/2010 to Articles

Bean bag chairs are a great place for children to relax and feel comfortable. Two Canadian organizations that work with children are using bean bag chairs to help children in need.

In a recent article, the Red Deer Advocate reported that the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter recently put in several large bean bag chairs as part of its redesign of its children’s area.

The Canadian care centre is designed to help children recover from domestic violence, and the redesign was aimed at helping children be comfortable. Bean bag chairs give children a relaxing place to sit and read or play videogames in the facility.

The Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter is not the only Canadian facility to feature bean bag chairs as part of its furniture. Canada.com recently reported that the Nanaimo Association for Community Living uses bean bag chairs as part of its multi-sensory therapy for people with disabilities.

The bean bag furniture at the Nanaimo facility allows people with a range of disabilities to relax in whatever position is most comfortable while watching a light show or listening to music. Bean bag chairs also offer sensory stimulation that is therapeutic to persons with disabilities.
