California Company Uses Bean Bag Furniture

California-based company Bump, a firm that allows mobile phone users to share content between phones, has been noted for joining the increasingly popular trend of replacing regular chairs with bean bag chair in its Mountain View office. Co-founder David Lieb told the San Francisco Examiner that the company is doubling its staff at the Mountain View office and new employees will get the chance to experience the comfort of sitting on bean bags as they work.

Formerly a warehouse, in addition to bean bag sitting the office contains exercise balls, surfboards, catered lunches, as well as a dog. Mr. Lieb stated that the office probably has more different beverages in its kitchen than employees.

Bean bag chairs may become the norm in years to come. A recent Wall Street stocks article states that bean bag chairs have already become a mainstay in many offices.

Orlando Cat Loves His Bean Bag Bed

An Orlando, Florida cat owner shared how his cat loves spending his days snoozing on his bean bag. Mike Kozak told the Orlando Sentinel that is cat, Boo, enjoys napping on his bean bag chair during the day and gives a big yawn when you wake him up for dinner. When he isn’t sleeping on his bean bag, his owner says Boo either plays with his toys or follows people all over the house.

Twelve months ago, Boo didn’t have the luxury of a bean bag chair. Mr. Kozak had found Boo in a car park, noting that the cat had fleas and worms and was in really bad shape. Boo is not alone in his appreciation of the comfort of a bean bag. According to Haaretz.com, Isreali singer Asaf Avidan’s pet dog Fay has also sleeps on two large sized bean bags.

More Schools Use Bean Bag Chairs

Many schools are seeking out innovative and fresh approaches to learning. Some are implementing different teaching techniques to address unique learning styles, others still yet are engaging students on broader and more creative levels while many more still yet are looking for ways to create an enticing environment in which children will learn more readily. A number of initiatives have been implemented to make schools a better place for kids to learn- and one such way is bringing comfort into the learning environment using bean bag chairs.

The Daily Nonpareil recently reported that teachers at the Walnut Grove Elementary School were given money by the school board for class room renovations. Their chair of choice? Bean bag chairs! This incredible move on the part of the Iowa school is just one way that they are working towards helping students to be much more at ease, relaxed and comfortable in their learning environment. This is a trend that has been really picking up, all over the world.

Bean Bag Chairs In Schools

Across the nation, a new trend towards helping students to better focus on studies is leaning towards comfort. Studies have shown that the more comfortable a student is, the better their focus and the better they fare in their school work. Many schools are implementing new ways to help foster this and to improve the overall learning experience for the students they are responsible for.

It is with that in mind that a school in Bangor, Maine began using bean bag chairs in their school library. According to a WABI TV 5 news report, the Downeast Elementary school received an award through a Target contest. The Take Charge of Education paid for a make over for the library, and they chose to add bean bag chairs. Additionally receiving new bookshelves and books, the school has seen a remarkable amount of enthusiasm on the part of the students for the make over.

Across the ocean, in London, another school has also implemented bean bag chairs for enhancing their learning environment. John Paul II School in Battersea has recently renovated their entire learning environment to include bean bag chairs.

One thing seems clear- for students, the bean bag chairs create a very inviting environment for learning. Fostering better study habits and improving a love of reading is so important, and many schools, parents and others who work with kids are finding that including bean bag chairs in their study areas are really paying off.

London School Features Bean Bag Chairs

A London secondary school recently renovated their learning suite and added bean bag chairs to increase student comfort.

Pupils at the John Paul II School in Battersea, near London, recently opened a new Learning Hub. The Local London reports that the learning centre features many bean bag chairs for students to lounge on whilst they study.

The bean bag chairs are part of a redesign aimed at student comfort that also features dimmed lighting and a computer suite.

Head teacher Rob Cooper states that the new learning centre is “yet another example of state of the art facilities enabling effective learning and progress.” Cooper also adds that pupils report that the centre is a “wonderful environment to study.”

John Paul II School’s new Learning Hub was designed by Phil Beadle, star of many education programmes on Channel 4 like “The Unteachables.” Beadle was on hand to open the new facility in September, and he even gave a brief lesson to students.
