Bean Bag Chairs – Can They Be Environmentally Safe, Or is it Just Hype?

Red Eco Friendly Bean Bag ChairBean bag chairs, since their inception in the late 1960’s, have seen many modifications. Their covers have evolved from the original nylon to materials such as denim, suede, leather, and even at times, fur. Filler for bean bag chairs has also grown to include many options outside of just the tiny beans that were so common into the 1980’s. With the green movement gaining traction in the world of furniture, it is important for bean bag chairs to be more eco-friendly.

Growing in popularity are bean bag chair covers that are constructed from 100% organic cotton. This environmentally sound solution allows for a long lasting, breathable, and easily washable cover for bean bag chairs. These new cotton covers, like some of their predecessors provide access to the inside of the sack via a discreet zipper, allowing for a simple method to replace the filler when it starts to become patted down due too years of use. Assembling Your Comfy Sacks Bean Bag Chair

Once one of our Comfy Sacks bean bag chairs is delivered to your door, you may ask yourself how the contents of the box is going to turn into your new beanbag chair.  Well, with these simple and easy steps you’ll be able to start relaxing in your new Comfy Sack in no time.

First:  You’ll want to make sure to unpack the box.  Be sure to remove everything.  Inside you should fine the cover, liner, and capsules containing our special Comfy Sacks foam.

Then:  Open the package for the liner and spread it along the floor preferably in the room where your bean bag chair is going to stay.  Place the capsules into the liner.

Then:  Close the liner using the zipper.  Place the cover around the bean bag chair and start breaking up the foam in the liner.  You should not have to use too much force and be careful not to rip the liner.

COMFY TIP: Many customers have found it very helpful to let the foam pods sit (with the plastic removed) inside the liner for a full day without breaking up the foam. This allows the foam some time to start the expansion process on its own so YOU don’t have to do all the work!

Then:  Over the next few days the bean bag chair will begin to grow as oxygen get in between all of the pieces of foam.  This is a natural part of the process and is what helps to make our Comfy Sacks so comfortable.  This could take up to a week, but if you want to speed the process up feel free to rotate and fluff the sack a couple times a day for the first week to get oxygen to the foam which allows it to expand.

That’s it!

Once this process has completed your Comfy Sack is ready to enjoy.

To learn more or buy your own Comfy Sack, check out our Sack chooser.

Bean Bag Chairs Help Kids With Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by a wide range of developmental disorders.  It affects as many as 1 out of every 150 children.  Parents of children with autism can employ many different strategies to help improve their child’s behavior and mood.  One way of helping to treat a child with autism or with other intellectual disabilities is to make use of a bean bag chair.  A bean bag chair is soft, comfortable, and is able to apply equal press across your child’s whole body.  This can help to calm a child down when they begin to show signs of aggression or may consider harming them self or others.  A bean bag chair can also be used as an exercise aid. Comfy Sacks Bring Comfort to Autistic Kids

More and more children are being diagnosed with autism each year. The U.S. Department of Education says autism diagnosis is growing at a rate of 10 to 17 percent a year, leading the Autism Society of America to predict the number of autistic people living in America could hit four million within the next decade.

When working with an autistic child, it is important to make them as comfortable as possible. Being in a secure place of comfort makes it easier for autistic children to focus and remain calm.

Using a Comfy Sack when working on therapy and learning activities can be a big help for autistic children. We’ve heard from many parents who have told us about the positive difference having a Comfy Sack has made in their lives and the lives of their children.

The Comfy Sack is a next-generation bean bag chair filled with high-quality, furniture-grade polyurethane foam. It is not noisy to sit in like a conventional bean bag chair, and it is firm enough to hug your body without being stiff or hard.

Comfy Sack beanbags put no pressure on the body, making it easier to sit for long periods. It also provides a place of comfort and safety for the child. Some parents even report that their children prefer to sleep on their Comfy Sack rather than in bed because the feeling of being surrounded by the sack is very comforting.

Parents can sit with their child on the Comfy Sack and spend time working on educational activities, reading or just being together. Using a Comfy Sack will improve bonding with your child and make activities more fun for both of you.

Comfy Sacks can be covered with cotton twill or high-quality microsuede, which is the preferred choice for kids bean bag chairs. This soft but durable fabric wears well and is nice to touch. The cover is removable and machine washable.

We’re so confident in the ability of Comfy Sacks to help children with autism, we’ve advertised our products in The Autism Advocate magazine to spread the word about how Comfy Sacks beanbags can help.

Feeling safe, secure and comfortable is so important for people with autism. The Comfy Sack bean bag chair can help your child feel more secure and help you both enjoy activities together even more than you do now. Your Comfy Sack will become the favorite place for family fun or one-on-one time that is so important for your autistic child.
