We sell a lot of Comfy Sacks beanbag furniture to parents for dorm rooms, kids’ rooms, playrooms, game rooms and theatre rooms. But, with Mother’s Day just around the corner, we wanted to let you in on a little secret.

When the kids are at school and moms are busy with their workday, every once in a while, Mama Bear sneaks a five, ten minute or longer break on a Comfy Sack. And why shouldn’t she?! Is there anyone who works harder than a mom? And is there anyone who deserves to be pampered and comfy more than a mom?

We at Comfy Sacks know moms are glue that hold families together, so we came up with our Top Ten ways to show mom how much she means to you on Mother’s day.

Ten Fab Things to Do for your Mom on Mother’s Day

1. Let her relax! Plop her in a Comfy Sack, bring her one of her favorite magazines and make sure she’s knows this is her day and that everything else will be handled by her loving family.

2. Watch her favorite movie with her. It may feel like torture to watch Steel Magnolias or An Affair to Remember, but spending time with her and holding the box of tissues will mean more to her than anything else.

3. Do something different! If you traditionally take Mom to brunch or to a relative’s house for a meal, switch it up. Go for a long drive on a country road and listen to her favorite kind of music. Go bowling, to a park, to the zoo or to a museum. Do something she would never expect.

4. Write her a letter or poem. Moms know the best gifts are homemade. Have each member of the family (dad and pets too!) write a letter or poem or mom to tell her how much they love and appreciate everything she does. It’s a gift she’ll cherish for a lifetime.

5. Bring out the old photo albums or fire up the photos on the laptop and sit with Mom while she reminisces about earlier times. She’ll love looking back and you might learn something new about your heritage you didn’t know before.

6. Offer to let her have a day to herself. Give her day of peace and quiet, maybe a massage appointment, or a day of shopping. Make sure she knows she won’t have to do a thing when she gets home (nothing worse than giving mom the day off and having her come home to dishes that need to be washed or laundry that needs to be put away!)

7. Cook a meal….maybe a few meals! Yes, a real meal using recipe books, pots, pans, measuring cups, the whole nine yards. She’ll get a kick out of watching her family navigate the kitchen and she’ll know the love that was put into every bite.

8. Make a Coupon Book. Present mom with a coupon book filled with coupons she can redeem any time she wants. Include coupons like “One Free Home Cooked Meal,” “One Movie Night,” “One Day of Free Laundry.” Search the Internet for “coupons for mothers day” images and you’ll find a ton you can print out and present to Mom.

9. Make a Jewelry or Paint Pottery. You can find a “paint your own pottery” store or jewelry-making studio in almost every major city. Bring all the kids and have them make mom a special piece of pottery or jewelry. It’s a gift she’ll always treasure.

10. Make a DVD. Include all those “momisms”…the things only your mom says or does. Include photos of the kids growing up. Include some of her favorite songs as background. With today’s computer technology, creating a video mother’s day ‘card’ is a snap! Have mom sit on the Comfy Sack with a bowl of popcorn to watch the premier of her Mother’s Day Movie!

These were just a few of the many ideas our staff came up with. Have fun with these or come up with your own ideas. Whatever you do, make this Mother’s Day one of the most memorable yet for the “Mama Bear” in your life.

Comfy Sacks supports TouchPoint

We at Comfy Sacks are always excited to get involved in community events. Not too long ago, we visited TouchPoint Autism Services to make a special delivery. TouchPoint is a non-profit organization that services more than 3,000 people with autism across the state of Missouri and beyond.

This organization continues to deliver education and support on so many levels, year after year – so Comfy Sacks decided to give back. We gave away a couple giant bean bag chairs as a means of showing our appreciation for all TouchPoint Autism Services does for thousands of people with autism and their families.

A few of the awesome employers decided to test out the Comfy Sacks before showing them off to guests. It looked like they didn’t want to get up! (Who can blame them?) We’re so excited to have Comfy Sacks available for the visitors of TouchPoint. New places can be intimidating, but we’re sure that the kids, teenagers, and adults who try out the squishy foam chairs will have no trouble at all getting comfortable.

Now that it’s been a few weeks since the delivery, we asked TouchPoint how the Comfy Sacks have worked out. Ann Furey, an Autism Training Specialist, sent us this review: “They have been such a huge hit!!! We have little ones who are at their breaking point sometimes, will sit in the comfy sack with a weighted blanket and just calm down instantly. It’s so relaxing! We all love them! I even did an impromptu parent support group session a couple weeks ago…we had five mothers, all exhausted from working with their children, so we had just kind of a relax session by going into the OT room. I was originally going to have each mother sit on a yoga ball to get some movement going, but each mother wanted to sit in the comfy sack! I had to practice turn taking with grown women! They have been such a wonderful addition to our rooms!”

Comfy Sacks Supports Kony 2012

This week, a YouTube video entitled “Kony 2012” went completely viral. Just three days after the upload, it has now received more than 36 million views. If you haven’t watched it yet, we strongly suggest that you commit the next thirty minutes to this film. We’ll wait for you. The Comfy Sacks staff watched the video and immediately felt a calling to participate in this incredible movement.

The video introduces a man by the name of Joseph Kony, leader of The Lords Resistance Army – an organization in Africa that abducts children from their homes, strips them from their education and innocence, and forces them to kill. The story is absolutely heartbreaking. Perhaps the most infuriating part is that this man, Joseph Kony, leader of this awful army of children, is hardly known around the world.

But that’s changing.

Invisible Children is the organization behind the creation of this video and campaign to change Kony’s power in Africa. The whole idea behind “Kony 2012” is to expose this man’s name and actions as much as possible. The issue has already been presented to various leaders in the United States, but because Kony is not directly aiming his efforts toward this country, there is limited action that we can afford to take.

The whole point of this campaign is to accrue hundreds of millions of supporters to demand Kony’s arrest and bring justice to the children whose lives he has destroyed. There is power in numbers, and in this digital age, little effort is required of you to spread the news of a worthy cause.

While the Comfy Sacks brand regularly supports all kinds of non-profit organizations, this particular charity has piqued our desire to help. We also very rarely publicly speak about these types of issues however our hearts sank listening to the children that are involved and we felt compelled to do something. We are especially impressed with the plan of action that Kony 2012 has presented to the viewers. All the Invisible Children asks of you is to simply view the message and spread the word. Spring Cleaning Your Comfy Sack

It’s not quite Spring yet, but evidence of the coming season is budding nationwide. Comfy Sacks loves this time of year because it represents a time of renewal. Much like the hopeful dawn that succeeds a dark night, Spring is the sigh of relief we’ve been waiting for. As you may know, this annual change of seasons inspires millions of people to thoroughly scrub, vacuum, polish, purge, and dust. This activity is known, of course, as Spring Cleaning. Some people adore it, others resent it, but the universal truth is that this traditional deep cleansing can completely transform your home and your mood.

Fortunately, owners of Comfy Sacks won’t have to worry about their bean bag chairs slowing them down (unless, of course, they are tempted to take a break from cleaning). Unlike regular sofas or recliners, Comfy Sacks have removable, machine washable covers. Come on, we know that you used your Comfy Sack as a napkin when no one was looking. We also know how hard it is to convince yourself to leave your seat once you’ve settled down, popcorn bowl nestled in your lap. It’s a shame to leave those butter-saturated fingerprints on the cover, so here is the detailed list of cleaning instructions:

Remove the outside cover from your Comfy Sack. The inner liner will still keep all of the polyurethane foam secure; in fact, it’s durable enough to be used even without the cover!
Zip the cover back up – this prevents it from getting caught on any of the parts in your washing machine.
Wash on a cold setting to prevent any shrinkage.
Transfer the cover to the dryer (use a tumble-dry on low setting) or set out to air dry.

Simple enough, right? As mentioned, all Comfy Sacks can still be used while the cover is getting a scrub down. The best part, though, is that you’ll be able to enjoy a fresh, clean Comfy Sack just in time for Spring!

For the Young or Young-at-Heart

Some of the best memories of being a kid revolve around sleepovers with friends. Of course, any child knows that the most enjoyable way to spend the night – whether alone or surrounded by buddies – is in a homemade fort! If you’ve never build a fort before, or you simply want to perfect your technique, read on to find out how!

Before you start building, you need the right materials. The simplest forts consist of multiple bed sheets that are tucked into “anchors,” which will be explained shortly.

The best place to build a fort is in a room that has a sofa – such as the family room or a media room. This is because the couch or sofa will allow you to hold the sheet in place. Tuck a sheet into the couch and pull the excess fabric to a chair opposite the couch. Ideally this will be a kitchen chair that has a tall back, allowing the fort to feel spacious inside. Stretch the sheet so that there is a tight “roof” between the couch and chair anchors. Across this sheet, you can drape a second sheet, so the edges are no longer exposed. This will box your fort in. If additional support is needed around the “walls,” you can use more chairs to hold up the sheets. Don’t forget to allow for a doorway!

The best forts are enhanced with some exciting features, such as strings of Christmas lights, a laptop, and even a mini fridge! If you have a Comfy Sack, we recommend stuffing it inside the fort as well – that is, if it can fit! Because you’ll be sleeping and relaxing in your fort, you should make sure to have a supply of warm blankets and pillows. Finally, don’t forget the entertainment! Comfy Sacks is the Better Bean Bag Chair

With the prevalence of the Internet, shopping has never been easier. It only takes a few clicks and a bit of patience in order to research various products and brands. Comfy Sacks has tried to make this process easier for you by offering comparison pages of our biggest competitors. Monster Sak, for instance, is a brand that some customers consider when choosing bean bag furniture. What they quickly realize, however, is that Monster Sak can’t compare to the Comfy Sacks brand in terms of quality and selection.
